Maxi Dolphin Nacira 67 by Axel de Beaufort

Semi Custom Racing Cruiser Sailing Yacht designed by Axel de Beaufort

Axel de BEAUFORT (NACIRA)

Luxury cruising and racing on a open 60 naval architecture concept.

Running downwind safely and comfortably with family or friends at 25 knots speed is now possible, the project has started with our client from this ambitious consideration.

This very light displacement and powerful high standards sailing yacht is answering to the following interesting question: how could we be as close as possible to a Vendee Globe Open 60 and/or a Volvo 70 concept on a leisure and comfortable boat ? My involvement in the offshore racing scene for over 10 years as project manager, has allowed us to answer  clearly to this question.
We could compare the concept to a luxury fast car equipped with the best racing engines, wheels and systems. Latest technologies, exhaustive engineering, constant weight watching all along the project were the major keys used during my mission.
To monitor the concept as far as possible specialists such as Pr Michel Kermarec (Aero Hydro dynamist – BMW Oracle) or Michel Desjoyaux (double Vende Globe winner) have contributed to the conception with me. The result is a wide planning hull shape equipped with a canting keel, twin rudder direction system and a 30 m high rotating mast !

Interior design has been studied to keep weight as low as possible and to make sure at the same time that our client and his guests will feel in a quiet, modern and comfortable environment.
Apparent structure, sound and vibration insulation in critical area, light engineered clear oak panels for furniture and fabrics drawers have been realized perfectly by the boatyard.
With her very wide foldable aft bath platform the boat is increasing her size by 5 extra feet when moored ! The tender garage is allowing the crew to pull out a 3,4 m long tender when needed.

A great project that will surely give lots of pleasure to amateurs and professional that will come sailing on board.
