Maxi Dolphin 73' by Bruce Farr
The
Maxi Dolphin 73' by Bruce Farr is the cruise version of
Carmen di Bellavista, a racing maxiyacht designed by Bruce Farr for sailing in light to medium strength winds. As a result, the yacht is particularly suitable for the Mediterranean, where it can produce maximum performance when running before the wind.
The hull of the Maxi Dolphin 73' by Bruce Farr is constructed on a male mould using
Kevlar and
Carbon fibre for the skins and a variable density
Airex sandwich for the core. A glass and epoxy resin structure designed by the english company
SP Systems and fabricated separately is mounted inside the shell to absorb the forces exerted by the keel, mast and rigging; at the same time, this structure also serves as the engine mounting. In addition, ring frames at the bow and stern add further stiffening to the hull. The deck is also constructed in Kevlar and Carbon fibre with an Airex core and can be equipped either for cruising or in a much more sophisticated manner using titanium components for racing. The engine, a 200 hp Volvo Penta, provides the Maxi Dolphin 73' by Bruce Farr with a cruising speed of approximately 12 knots.
