Designed by Germán Frers and launched in 2001 the MD 118 Viriella was built in composite materials and constant weight control, together with the use of internal sandwich panelling weighing just 0.4 kg/sqm, have kept the displacement of this 36-metre vessel down to 130 tonnes.
Rigged with a Southern Spars carbon fibre mast, Harken deck equipment with hydraulic winches, Viriella is fitted with a lifting keel governed by a hydraulic piston that reduces the draught from 5.50 to 3.50 metres. The interior design was signed by the Maxi Dolphin Project Design Team, and is developed around a central living area with, in the forward area, the sleeping zone with the owner’s cabin and an adjoining studio, two double guest cabins and a three-bed guest cabin. Aft of the saloon is the dining room and crew quarters. The décor is made of maple and pear, two light essences that brighten the interiors and create an elegant contrast with the carbon fibre structural elements that are left in view.
